Hi, RORY. Sorry I didn't get to your Fool post.
Referring to RNWK's writing. Just not well done.
Have trouble navigating TMF board so I can't always keep things straight, but I recall your post. Thanks for asking again. TMF Web site very poor technically. Really a struggle.
Here's what I think you're looking for, Rory. I put it up on TMF last night with you in mind. It's a pretty good primer on Net broadcasting.

As far as I'm concerned, broadband (principally cable and xDSL, but including T-1, satellite and even wireless) is already viable. The only limitation is penetration, and that's ramping up from the current level of say, 500,000 users. It'll still be many years before penetration is vast, but don't let that stop you from subscribing if it's available to you, or from *making money* from this revolution. Advanced compression and cache technology will only help.
In terms of serving platforms, the ball is in RNWK's court. If you've read some of my recent posts here, you know I see the MP3 issue as a hot potato. Others seem to be content with RNWK's historical achievements, but Í see a train coming and I'm flashing yellow...
Hope I've given you some direction. Let me know what else you need.
