AMD already presented 2 papers on the K7 - one on the "K7" and one on the FPU specifically.

They still talked about a 500+ Mhz processor speed - but were "mum" on how much greater than 500 MHz it would be.

AMD indicated first silicon was functional and met the "MHz" goals.

Since the part is not released, my guess is that the MHz goal may not be sufficient - that the internal architecture still lags comparable chips from Intel despite the "MHz" level.

That's my guess.

I'll try to provide the AMD papers later today or tomorrow.
