Brian, Thank you for your reply. I too was under that same impression.

However, I now believe that if you have a cash account and that states to your broker that they can not sell short shares you own without your knowledge and concent you, don't have to hold the certificates.I think this is what was refered to in the post as a self directed RRSP. The only that changes is my control of cash owned stocks.

We all know that FTel can only be bought with cash and it is in my cash account, but for some reason my broker shows my account with margin buying power.Mind you I don't own any marginable stock.

Therefore I'm going to make sure that they acknowledge my share as registered with them and that all such shares can continue to be bought and sold as usual. I will then send them a communique informing them that no shares I own in cash are to be sold short and are to remain in my cash account only and not to be transfered to a margin position for any reason.

I hope that when we begin to see 10K ,20k,more ... shares next week moving to cash accounts all over this great country ftel will rise like the super star it is. Even it doesn't we will at least have given ourselves strong price support at these levels.Only in America where self defense in still legal.

What's scary is unchecked short selling and misinformation. Remember always do your own DD.

Let's not depend on luck, let's take action each as he or she see's fit.
