I believe .34 was the midrange whisper number. .31 was the estimate. Strangely, there were rumors about 3 weeks ago that Dell was having a blowout and thats when the stock moved from 90 - 110 (?). So, perhaps at that time some analysts raised their expectations to .37 but really it was always .34. If Dell made inroads to storage/server mkts then this could be an overreaction. At any rate they made a bad call in prematurely splitting the stock. I dont think there was anything sinister in that (as some seem to believe), I just think they put the wheels in motion and the qtr ended up being a little soft. Too many splits so far this year.
