OT port replicator A port replicator just passes the signals from the back of the notebook to a convienient place to put a monitor, power plug, and keyboard/mouse. It is still the same as if those devices were connected to the back of the laptop. A docking station has additional logic for pci cards which can be added in addition to what is onboard the notebook. They usually have network hookup and additional sound capabilities. There is not currently a docking station for the inspiron 7000 although a port replicator is available. TP
