There have been strong differences of opinion, particularly regarding the speed of exploration, apparently. Word was that abz wanted wsp to get on with it faster right from the Antler takeover two years ago. Turner has more of a one-step-at-a-time approach, i guess. They say he likes to get value for the exploration buck, which does seem to me important considering costs up there. You just can't make Swiss cheese out of all your acreage. He likely should have drilled deeper on some of the shallow holes in the lake in the spring of '97, but it's a little late now to have that affect the abz/wsp split.

The dominant thought of abz would be to finance Diavik, i guess, even if, as Eric says, they have two years. That's not such a long time. And you can understand pressure from a buyer right now to make a deal before the Haywood bulk sample results come in, or before some significant intersection of kimberlite gets pulled in the lake.
