RE: DELL split as a last ditch desperate move. Market said--No, you don't. You're cooked. You're finished. We're emptying the truck. To hell with using the shovel to empty the truck, just push the truck over the edge. MD announced a split because he is very confident for Calendar 1999, not because of a desperation. He ain't stupid as some on this thread appear to be.
