Not really. All it takes is patience and a certain amount of foresight. For example, I bought CSCC at around $26. It became ASND (post merger) and my cost basis was up to $37. I saw that plummet to the low 20's on disappointing earnings and I bought more because I knew I was buying into good technology. It traded up around $90 recently when the merger with LU was announced. My holding period rate of return is currently around 80% per annum.

So what's wrong with Dell? Their sales came in a few per cent light! There is nothing in the fundamentals that indicates anything other than a temporary bump on the road. Life is too short to agonize over this.

Moral: stop trading and start investing. Hold for the long term.
