No, if i am understanding your post.
Because if I borrow it for the day, once you short it, its gone. You must reborrow. Thus even if you buy back in type two, margin account, and you then later decide to short again, you must borrow the stock again and short with necessary prints again.
Note that we will often borrow 2 to 3 x what the client asks for to give ourselves some room.
