Flodyie: I hate to burst your bubble, but the key points in your allegedly "hot" business plan are included in the Dec 22 SFLK press release. When I read that VoiceLink was the 5th best-selling product in its class (consumer software) in Japan, and that TDK - a $6B company and Japan's leading modem manufacturer - planned to bundle SFLK software in its 56K modem and all future modems, I thought "$11.9M projected sales in 1999 appears reasonably modest." At $20 retail that's 600,000 VoiceLink packages. Of course, Powerlink sells for $49, probably with the same production cost (under $3, I bet). In the Dec 22 release SFLK referenced 88% margins on the products. (sweetheart, is that what you meant by "Cost of goods equal to 12$ of sales"). With a little math we could even figure out their estimated product mix. SFLK's success in Japan caught the attention of TDK; here in the US it caught the attention of Matchmaker - think anyone else might notice? Flodyie, the success of this investment will lie in the company's ability to make its products broadly popular; they appear to be on that track in Japan, and have as good a chance as anyone at repeating that success here in the US. I'll appreciate any reasonable dialogue contrary to the above. Max |
