Win95 Update:

Here's a link to the OSR1 Patch for Windows 95 (if you don't already have it).

Now there's two Y2K concerns that you should have. Software is one, and hardware is the other. You should not have too many problems with Windows 95, and whatever it is, will be relatively minor.

Major applications like Office 97 have little if not no problems with the Y2K bug, you'll have more difficulty with custom software applications...espcially date sensitive financial applications.

Hardware wise is where you are at risk with a 486. There are quite a few of them that are not compliant, and the base level hardware has to be updated. Either through a BIOS update (available from the manufacturer's home page), or a separate card to fix Y2K issues.

I suggest the OSR1 Patch from Microsoft for starters, but without a doubt, call or write to Packard Bell and ask them about the status of Y2K compliance with your model.
