There are two distinct "problems" here, Alan; one is easily remediable, the other, alas, is not. The easily remediable problem is the well itself; Fresh water is highly unusual at that depth, but not unheard of. It can be managed in a number of ways, any of which will permit the continued commercial viability of the well as a producer.
The other problem is Anvil's credibility, now totally destroyed, and for which there is no solution other than that which I have outlined. Unfortunately, this isn't Japan, so all involved will, alas, live to see another day. |
