All of the Digital Cable boxes being sold today, will need to be replaced...................................

cableworld.com

Comcast, which launched its @Home high-speed data product last year and now counts more than 50,000 customers, will continue to disseminate non-DOCSIS modems and first-generation digital boxes to customers even though "we'll eat the ones we've already bought" because they'll have to be replaced, Roberts said. The reason: It's more important to get the equipment into the field than to wait for standardized modems and OpenCable boxes.

"Sometimes we get so focused we forget the train we're riding on," Roberts said. "So what if we put in some wrong boxes? We'll never really have the perfect box. There's always going to be a better box down the road."
