*AV*--The Micrascan was practically an IBM only tool since they had most of the systems made. INTC is a SVGL user only because they were "suckered" into the use of older style Micrascans that could be run using i-line but get DUV results. Remember that set of news releases?

I kept close tabs on the Micrascans at SEMATECH and they never cut the mustard. I worked on the SGVI equipment at my previous employer's Colorado Springs facility. Many problems with the furnaces and the track equipment.

Sorry to seem so negative but it is my epxerience and not my emotions that drive my attitude on SVGI. There are better alternatives for a good portion of their porduct offerings. They were at the top of my list of companies 15 years ago but they have fallen off dramatically as they expanded their product line.

Personally, I would be amazed if they penetrate other customers. I think they would be used as a last resort if there is a huge backlog and delivery problem at some of the top tier providers. This has happened in the past with other equipment. If everyone kicks into gear at once, these deliveries will push out, requiring going to alternate sources.
