"I'd love to see the jury system scrapped. It's an incredible waste of time for many. Also, it's simply insane to let 12 morons decide the fate of lives and/or billions of dollars."

Lin,
I thought I was the only person on the planet that had your thoughts above (not the moron part though). I think the jury system of peers are fine, but they should be a, "professional," jury of peers. They should be able to write out the numbers, $1 thousand, $10 thousand, $1 million, and $1 billion without any hesitation (I guess if they can't, you MAY consider them, "morons?").

These jurors should be educated to look beyond the overwhelming, "smoke and mirrors," tactics of lawyers. To be able to see the facts of the case. They should be paid by the government for their services and should remain unknown as individuals, to avoid any tampering.

This would be much better than our current system. I have been waiting for some politician to propose this idea for many, many years. I've never heard it brought up.
