I have seen you post similar sentiments before, but have not commented. A 2:1 split halves the price, but also halves the value. It does not lower the price. Here is a comment from I link I got on the CPQ thread that says it better than I can.

Then they announce the stock split. Oh yes, the spoil of the retail investor, who does not understand that a stock split simply doubles the number of shares everyone has, cuts earnings per share and dividend per share in half, and does nothing for long term stock performance. Dell is not going to look like a high-flier at less than $30 a share, which is where it could end up after a tough fall and the split.
