Diversinet Signs Deal With Leading Interactive TV Provider Prasara To Deliver Services Over Cable and the Internet
Patented Technology Makes Internet Gaming, Ordering Food or Movies, Paying Bills and Other Services More Secure
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 16, 1999-- Diversinet Corp. (Nasdaq:DVNT - news; Canadian Dealing Network:DVNT.) a leading provider of digital certificate management tools announced today that its patented technology has been licensed by Prasara Technologies, Inc. to provide secure communications for its digital interactive TV services. Prasara Technologies' interactive TV applications include Movies on Demand, TV Banking(TM), Our Town(TM) (a regional entertainment guide), TV Diner(TM) and Take-Out TV(TM) (food delivery services). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The agreement allows Prasara to embed Diversinet's PKI technology within its Interactive TV applications. Prasara's applications can run on any interactive TV platform and any digital set-top box.
Unlike other key management solutions, Diversinet's patented PKI system obtains and verifies the validity of certificates through a single-step process, providing unparalleled efficiency and simplicity in e-commerce applications and other bandwidth constrained environments.
