February 17, 1999 Dow Jones Newswires AT&T Holders Approve TCI Merger Dow Jones Newswires NEW YORK -- AT&T Corp. (T) shareholders approved the company's merger with Tele-Communications Inc. (TCOMA). As reported, AT&T agreed to acquire TCI last June, and the Justice Department approved the $48 billion merger on Dec. 30. The Federal Communications Commission is currently reviewing the deal. In a press release Wednesday, AT&T said about 99% of the shares that were voted approved the merger, and more than 72% of the shares outstanding were in favor of the transaction. TCI shareholders are scheduled to vote on the merger later today.
