Peter, I agree about the leveraged effect on EGRP of a bear market. I'd also argue that an extended sideways market (more likely at this point, IMO, but a 20-30% downturn is still a good possibility) would be bad for EGRP. In that kind of market, it would be tougher for momentum buyers and tulip traders to make money and without frequent new market records and similar excitement, the markets won't be in the news so much. Reduced trading volume in existing accounts and fewer new account openings would likely result even without a bear market.
