Al,
With all due respect, I am afraid that you are living in the past on this issue. Many communities are already "banning" new development, and environmental laws are becoming increasingly harsh and dictatorial in nature as time moves on. That is a fact, and such was simply not the case fifty, or even twenty five years ago.
Don't get me wrong here, as I am not against hard working immigrants at all, having "hung out" with Mexican immigrants in New Jersey when I was a teenager, much to the surprise and even anger of my "white" friends. So I know about many of their difficulties and problems, and realize that there is a positive side as you pointed out. But that was then and this is now, and it is time to be realistic about how many more people we can safely absorb, without further serious infrastructure and environmental problems, not to mention the sad fact that many of today's immigrants simply do not want to become mixed into the great American "melting pot", but would rather set up and fortify their own enclaves contributing to the further "Balkanization" of America. Yogi
