I must have miscommunicated. I think DELL is a wonderful company, and I am going to look for an entry in the next few weeks for a long term hold. But my concern will DELL isn't about how good its numbers were, or will be, doing what they have been doing. The company needs to grow in other directions, and it hasn't been doing that. Anyone successful at doing one thing will eventually be a target for all the second tier companies to infringe on it - that is how DELL made its mark anyway, being the one to sell direct when IBM and CPQ and DEC were in the middlemen scenarios. Now others are trying to take a piece of Dell's pie, and they can only do so much to retain that lead. They need to incorporate more of the supply chain withing their cost model, integrate more of the collateral markets to build broader infrastructure and move into more of the other nascent and emerging technologies to stay ahead of the game.

CPQ is trying to buy its way into those areana, ad that may or may not work. GTW is doing nothing as far as I can tell. IBM is leveraging its massive technology labs toward that, at a faster pace than I expected, and DELL also needs to evolve. I am looking for that evolutionary vision from DELL. For Mike to say, "We are working on the margins..." isn't it.
