I sure hope there is a method to their madness. I have to imagine they are trying something different this time. After seeing their technology used and licensed by the "big boys" only to have to resort to lawsuits to enforce collection of royalties, greater control should be the order of the day.
If Ampex has some improvement for the delivery of video on the web why would'nt they bring it to market. Entry costs into this business are easily handled by them as compared to other endeavors.
Regardless, they play it close to the vest and it's going to be on their timeline as to the release of information. I think we all know that Bramson is not playing the internet shell game and these recent acquisitions are in place for a purpose. You also must give those bright folks at Reiter and TV onthe Web some credit also, as their eggs are now in this basket. Instead of waiting for a "Big Boy" offer they chose to align themselves with Ampex. They know what is waiting in the wings and they made their decisions because of the potential they have seen. My money says Ampex made these moves to bring their technology to market -- not to capture the income streams or to diversify.
