Recent discussion of the lack of scalability and uncertainty of the NT platform for a telephone based system makes me post this article. I'm not technical enough to judge it's contents, but if some are I suggest they contact Summa Four and ask them why they choose NT.
This product is designed to work with IVR and faxing. I have no idea if General Magic employs it in anyway, but simple bring reference to the scalability of NT.
From the article, Dan Taylor, managing director, telecommunications, at Aberdeen Group in Boston, Mass., has good things to say about the product. “I really like the fact that they've put an NT server with a computer telephony platform right on the switch, which is deployable right now, scaleable, and is a proven platform for a number of enhanced PSTN services. There are really no competitors to this product. It is a programmable switch with an IP telephony gateway on board. The other gateways are not service platforms, merely plumbing to connect the pipes.”
