I thought it was very interesting watching a replay this morning of a Tuesday C-Span meeting on the Future of the Republican Party held with three leaders of fringe Republican's; the African-American Republican group, the Pro-Choice Repubulican group, and the Republican Gay group - they call themselves Log Cabin Republican's (Isn't that special).

Basically; what they said was that the African American vote is gone and the Southern Republican's have been outed as associated with a KKK type group, etc. The Pro Choice Republican's are winning in elections and the Pro Life are losing elections. The moderates are winning against a 20% vocal minority far right Republican base. The Republican's we lose on every face-off with Gays. The message was that the Republican Party to win basically needs to throw the social conservatives and the far right over the side and focus on the 80% base of moderate fiscal conservative and small government Republican's. The said that originally the message was; get government off our backs and now the Republican's need to say; we want government now off our backs in the bedroom which is just the opposite of the message they have recently been sending. That has killed them on the smaller government argument. The factions are fighting each other and killing the party. I love hearing all this.
