Uncle Frank,

Two good things here...

1) I usually buy my shares in "50" share increments, and
2) "50" has always been my planned age of retirement

So, yes, the number "50" normally means good things for me too.

Regarding EMC. It's a gotta have stock in any "investment" portfolio. Note, I am staying away from "trading" portfolio as I do not think this is a traders stock.

I'll keep it brief. Provided you can get beyond EMC's lofty PE, and considering the CEO's bullish statements at the Goldman Conference regarding EMC's growth outlook over the next three years, here's my reasoning:

Reasons why:

a) The internet will only grow exponentially, and with that growth, the storage needs for data will follow. IT managers and pc users will not want to overwhelm their systems with the storage requirements that this environment will demand.
B) The onset of y2k (not our posting friend!) is forcing businesses and individuals to deal with the issue of "where to back up all that important information". Cost issues and the increasing trend of outsourcing back office functions are pushing users to look for easy and cost effective ways to store, manage and access data. EMC is an integral part of this equation and is quickly becoming a Gorilla in their arena.

Reason why not:

a) Cannot think of any, just a timing issue as to when. That is something you yourself must answer given this market environment. Provided you time horizon is beyond three months, you should make out well.

Thanks,
Teflon
