They are NOT the same thing. The company gives guidance. The analysts may or may not come up with the correct expectations. It depends on how good their model is.

I believe you are the newbie here. The fact that INTC has not changed guidance does not necessarily mean that they have the quarter "in the bag". If there is SIGNIFICANT upside or downside, INTC usually pre-announces. If there is no new guidance, it generally means that they expect to come in slightly above or slightly below the mean estimates.

<In any case, I bet that INTC will exceed expectations.>
