Actually, I think Intel got a bum rap on the privacy issue. This feature should have been put in the PC architecture years ago. Software piracy could have been drastically reduced. Theft of intellectual property (software, music, research reports, whatever) becomes even more of a problem as the industry moves to a 'download from the net' distribution model.

Most Unix systems (Suns, etc) have had a similar feature for years.
Every Ethernet card has a similar feature. It's just become fashionable to bash Intel.

BTW, I have never worked at Intel, nor do I own the stock.
