Gates et al are interested in products that make money. Same as Sun,
Apple, Oracle, IBM and every other company.

Agreed. Except that MS used illegal practices, and, cared less than any of those companies about the quality of their products. They're more obsessed with control at the expense of their products' quality.

I challenge Microsoft to do something similar to Sun's approach
to feedback from companies/communities towards SUN's java.
