Hi Aus,

O.T.

Out of lurker mode for a change. Still holding my Sandisk but been too busy with work to post here.

Interesting to see you mention Handheld PC magazine and Dave Shier's site - I have personally known Hal Goldstein (H/PC mag) and Dave Shier for several years. The portable wireless modem that Dave has on his site has been around for a while. Without checking, I presume you are referring to the Ricochet device - coverage is currently limited nationally. However Dave has just started stocking a 1900 MHz PCS GSM cellular phone from Sagem with an integrated data/fax modem that connects to any serial port and can use any standard communications program - negates the need for special pcmcia cards to connect to cellular phones and keeps the slot on palmtops free for memory expansion (CF or PCMCIA). Although not a new concept in Europe this is the first time such a phone has been available in the US. He and I are thought to be the only ones using the phones here so far and he started stocking them after I got mine earlier this year<G>. Data connection has proven to be very reliable so far - interesting experience to browse the web wirelessly using a palmtop computer.

Double speed 32MB HP200LX + 70MB of flash cards + Sagem 755 GSM cell phone power user - WinCE may be hot but it still lacks functionality.
