I don't think Dell needs to jump ship to offer a Sub-$1000. Intel will gladly sell them a Celeron, cheap.
The ramifications of Dell going sub 1000 cut much deeper however. Especially if Dells fortunes predict Intels fortunes. The cracks in Intels segmentation strategy are beginning to show.
