Sherry--Regrettably the photo is a fraud.
If you will look under the left leg of the person in question you will see a female. This indicates the photo is of modern origin. The ancient Japanese rightly viewed it far to exciting for a Japanese females libido to view such a hunk of masculinity as a sumo wrestler in full glory. For some reason Japanese women lose all inhibitions at the sight of a sumo wrestler. It is a trait that cannot be understood by outsiders, kind of like the French liking Jerry Lewis. Modern sumo matches are attended by Japanese women though they are required to take tranquilizers on admission.
The only known images of the great short Chu Mei Ash are from the celebrated 'pillow' books written by some of his courtesans. The most famous of the books "Samauri Stud Muffin" by Yu May is considered a great classic.
