Encouraging response from eDigital about concerns of product similarity. Continuing to do DD (as always):

Thank you for writing. Although the two product lines you mention have a
few features in common, the two systems are completely different. The
IBM/Olympus product bundle is generic, while Lanier's Cquence product line
is specifically tailored to healthcare professionals, incorporating not
only medical vocabulary in its voice-to-text software, but also
incorporating document management tools necessary to the healthcare
industry (i.e. a built-in bar code reader for patient charts, etc.)

On a separate note, the sound quality of the two units is noticeably
different. In as objective an opinion as I can give you, I believe the
sound quality of the D1000 is inferior to the recorder developed by
e.Digital. This is especially noticeable when the D1000 is set for "long"
versus "standard" recording time. Sound quality can have a big impact on
the effectiveness of voice-to-text software. For more information on the
Cquence product line from Lanier, please see the following web page:

I hope this information is helpful to you.

Best regards,

Wendy Ravenel
