Happened to check the price of 13 gig Maxtor 4320 drives a couple of times today (sweet spot for me--smallest size with 512k cache and with $30 rebate on retail version) and the best prices at shopper.com
changed each time. By the end of the day, buy.com was again in the lead at $219 before the rebate, or $189 after.

That is less than half the cost of the Jaz media! AND one disc instead of 6 for the same amount of storage. A pair of 13 gig Maxtors in a daily or weekly rotation system and some automating software could make for a low cost removable backup strategy. Matched drives would virtually eliminate configuration issues. Is the convenience of the Jaz worth twice the cost? The harddrive has a significant size advantage..downsizing a system install because the backup media is too small is a significant disadvantage IMO.
