Michael, looks as though Qualcomm as a brand has really arrived in the USA. Which is not a bad place to arrive as a brand. Thanks for the market research [and all the other items you hunt down]. It's also becoming common to refer to Qualcomm as a 'major company', 'a telecommunications giant', and similar expression rather than the 'an unknown startup in San Diego', 'a high risk small company among g behemoths' and the like, which we have had up until the beginning of 1998.

Having Microsoft as a buddy doesn't seem to hurt - a bit like 'my father's a policeman'.

It's nice to get ThinPhone 'direct from 3D reality in San Diego comments' - thanks GoQCOM. And it is in beta testing so it is real, not just a plastic housing with click beetles for sound effects.

Meanwhile, crude oil is now down the pre-Xmas lows again, which has made the oil sector depressed, which coincidentally with fear in the Internet Stocks and Dell and HP getting a bump has made many think a market crunch is here again.

That would be fun, but the last one was too recent. We can't be having 'The biggest financial panic in 50 years!!' every 6 months. Maybe there will be a bit of a clean out, but The New Paradigm has barely begun. It is at the zygote stage. Little form yet, just the awareness that 'this is going to be BIG'. Y2K will be a yawn. It's the surprises that catch people - not something trundling down the pike at 2 miles an hour taking 20 years to arrive.

PS: For those who have forgotten, cheap crude oil is GOOD! It means less money goes on oil, steel, plastics, aluminium, and all that industrial stuff and much more is left for buying Qualcomm cellphones. People really like those. Also, it is GOOD to get CO2 in the atmosphere where it belongs. People are on a noble effort to get it all back into the ecosphere, where it belongs. Animals and we breathe out carbon dioxide, which plants love to gobble up and they breathe out oxygen, which suits us. Unfortunately, plants have been starved of carbon dioxide because carbon has been buried in coal, oil, gas and limestone. Now we are getting it back out again.

Hooray for BP Oil, Shell, Exxon, Valueman [who likes big engines] and the airlines which burn it, putting heaps of CO2 back where plants can get hold of it.

Plants grow, fish eat them, we eat fish and plants. All good fun!

Don't rebuild your beachfront property - move to higher ground.
