>What real Facts?< Yes, it's advertising directed at the wrong market.

I'm a proud Mac user, but I don't always agree with the way that Apple markets their products. The PC market is oblivious to the advantages of the Mac because many of them read only a handful of PC magazines who's ad pages are dominated by PC manufacturers, parts suppliers, and software vendors.

If Apple wants a chunk of a new market, they must advertise their products heavily in PC magazines. With ad dollars coming into their pockets, the PC mags are more likely to review Mac products with a fair critique.

Currently, it's easy to badmouth Apple products in a PC magazine because there is no risk of losing ad revenue. Are they going to print the results of benchmark tests between the MMX and Power PC chips? Not likely. They would expect to anger a potential source of income.

BYTE magazine and the technology section of the New York Times can get away with such a fair test because they have advertisiers from ALL equipment and software manufacturers. They're the neutral territory that neither Apple nor Wintel have control of.

Perhaps this is where Apple should spend their ad dollars:

PC magazines and genral interest COMPUTER magazines.
