Richard, it's not just the power supply we'll have to worry about. Working at one of the largest banks in the US I'm pretty familiar with our systems and progress towards Y2K compliance. Something I have yet to see addressed by anybody is the water supply as it pertains to computing. We have quite a few water cooled mainframes which can't run much more than several minutes without being cooled. When the "chillers" as they're called go down (as has happened here once or twice) then the mainframes MUST be shutdown. Imagine for a minute that we've got all of our software Y2K compliant, we've been guaranteed by the phone co. that all of our leased lines are compliant, the power stays on or our backup generators kick in but either the water pumps won't start because of embedded controller chips or we don't even get a supply of water from the water company because of their own problems. Awful lot of pieces that all have to fall into place for this to go off without a hitch wouldn't you say?

Take care,

Bill
