In 1929, up to 1952, the market was open 6 days a week, instead
of 5 days, and therefore a reference to calendar days instead of trading days to get both crashes to match up. The concept is that the market breaks down, the specialists get bagged, then they engineer a rally where they relieve themselves of all the shorts they got bagged with, reposition themselves to the shortside, and then the fun begins.
