Wow, all that British culture and a Zamboni thrown in for good measure!<g> I was looking for the WC reference, but alas, there was none.

I am struck by the recent data showing 50% penetration of US households (owning a PC) and their apparent reluctance to upgrade processors (new units), especially to the over-$1,000 unit.

Software bloat/new features still drives processor demand at the consumer level and with the Pentium III coming out, one must wonder how long the PII 350+ will take to filter to the sub-$1,000 level.

AMD will have to respond to this competitive threat by reducing their prices on competing chips so that they undersell the Intel brand.

The margin issue is still out there.
