Very interesting reading.... of particular interest is this excerpt:

"The State Correctional Institute in Chester, Pennsylvania is one of three prisons in the nation that specializes in the rehabilitation of drug- and alcohol-addicted prisoners."

I wonder where the other two prisons are?

"The proportion of new prison inmates who were drug users at the time of their arrest increased this decade, while drug treatment in state and federal prisons fell sharply, according to a study released by the Justice Department."

Looks like it will take a major move by the various political pundits before we know whether the coin falls on heads or tails regarding funding.

Seems like there are multi-layers that need to be covered before C.I.T.A.'s program is endeared by the "powers that be". You and I both know there is.... no easy fix....no pun intended.

Of all of the things that I have learned recently regarding this area.... I would state that the two following are perhaps the most meaningful apriori of this treatment and addiction issue:

1) Behavioral disorders have no demographic, socioeconomic or geographic boundaries.

2) Detoxification is not a cure for opiate addiction

The prospects for increased revenues for C.I.T.A. are great... provided they can displace the current status-quo opiate addiction treatment system..... methadone
