Gabriel, I agree wholeheartedly with your conclusions 1-4 inclusive, but your ASP figure might be a little too high, especially if Dell enters the sub 1K market aggressively. I am expecting (though not forecasting!) a gross margin of around 22%. I was especially impressed with Dell's comments regarding both the pipeline and more aggressive pricing. Dell's huge cost advantage should push some of its competitors back on their heels. I also thought that we had discussed the January issue earlier, and that IDC had indicated that January was included in their report. If you recall, I doubted that because it would render market share calculations meaningless (because of non-standard time periods). I have not followed the IDC reports with attention that you had, so I simply assumed that storage was included under the umbrella of "enterprise". Your thoughtful analysis is always appreciated.
