not as it is here where you have millions upon millions of people receiving benefits that others have worked to provide for them.

OK, I agree with you that the US treats underprivileged people perhaps better than most other nations but nonetheless we could do better.

I also take issue with the above statement regarding the disadvantaged. A lot of people become disadvantaged at some point in their lives after paying taxes for any number of years.... its not as if all needy people have leaned on the system forever.

Heres an example for you 60s drug people (that I know inhabit these political threads). There is a homeless guy around here... around 50 years old I would guess - apparently he was once the lead guitarist for the group "Moby Grape". Do you ex-hippies remember that group? I dont really, but nonetheless this was a guy that Im sure paid into the system quite heavily for a few years when he was young and at some point was consumed by that same environment that he was thriving in. (He may have been a victim of the economics of the music industry at that time, too). Anyway this moby grape guy deserves a warm place to sleep and some good food and a home for his little dog. It is a tragedy and an embarrassment that we allow people like this to survive on the streets as transients when they should be taken care of.
