I know you got good knowledge in the hi-tech area. I have been in the software development and consulting business for 15 years, and implement some large size applications to run on the different platforms (UNIX and PC). To my knowledge, the revolution of PC make the computer industry prosper, and small business owners and regular user can afford to have the same computer as the big brother (fortune 500 company) does. Who make this happen ? Not IBM, NOVL, ORCL, or SUNW, etc, but MSFT, INTC, DELL, CPQ, GTW, etc. I don't know you ever buy SUNW or HWP workstation and ORCL or SYBS DB from your pocket or not. If yes, then you will know there is a big price gap between UNIX and PC. That is the reason why IBM, ORCL and SUNW are hate Bill Gate so much. How about you ? What is your reason. Every time when I saw my kids using the computer to do the homework, it always remind me the IBM mainframe I used in U.C.Berkely, and feel how lucky this generation is. Toy, If you look MSFT from regular user instead of computer expert perspective, you will appreciate it, because it makes the software so affordable. |
