(I actually might watch these last two)
lol

Dignity comes from within - but respect is conferred from without. I agree with X - there is a trend to celebrate difference and this is going a bit far. It is worth keeping in mind that the current PC carnival is an overreaction to a cultural fear of the non-normal individual. Imo this fear or hatred is a bad thing.

If you don't equate dysfunction with inferiority - very good for you. Many or most of our fellow citizens are not so tolerant however, and it is my experience that suggesting dysfunction is very often used as a lever to legitimize some sort of discrimination or ostracism. We want to be very careful about that kind of thing.

I disagree that being gay is a dysfunction. I currently and provisionally reject the idea of homosexuality as any less "normal" than heterosexuality. I know you have all manner of colorful charts ... but all the gay people who have seen fit to be open with me did not accept or declare their homosexuality because it was cool. They would much rather have been straight because of the cultiral and financial advantages - but something as deep as sex drive can't simply be rerouted. This intuitive fact probably accounts for 1) the paradoxical reticence/rebellion surrounding gay identity and 2) the horror of decent, sincere social conservatives who just can't imagine such a thing being "right".
