It looks like Intel's strategy is to position Klamath (233,266)
against K6 for the high-end DESKTOP. I believe they delayed
Klamath a month to make sure the 266 comes out at the same time.
They must know something and they probably feel that the 266 will
outperform K6 convincingly. That should shut-out K6 for the
high-end desktop for the major OEMs anyway, and leave K6 for
existing AMD customer base. As for laptops, I'm not sure. Depends
on if AMD can deliver what they promised: low power, high yields,
etc. But INTC has SMP Klamath, laptop Klamath, jsut around the
corner. If AMD wants to make inroads, they better have had the
deals signed already.
