Philip,
It is with deep regret that I post this message, but I know of no other way to bring attention to a serious matter. I know you and Mark Stryker read this thread frequently and, therefore, will surely see and (hopefully) respond to this friendly plea for help.
There have been a few ongoing discrepancies in my account that have gone uncorrected for months. Further, I have been unsuccessful getting your company to respond to my requests for help. I hope there is a good reason and that you will share it with me sooner rather than later.
Specifically, there were two incorrect charges posted to my account in August and September of 1998. I have been told several times that they would be corrected. However, they have not been credited yet, despite several email messages from me and telephone conversations with Mark Styker. It has been a long time and has consumed a lot of my time trying to get your accounting errors corrected.
Also, I sent several messages requesting an explanation why my recent monthly statement for January 1999 did not agree with other material received from clearing firm, Penson Financial Services. The amounts of my January purchases, sales, and number of shares traded are significantly different. I asked which set of data, if either, are correct and why the discrepancy. Messages were sent to your brokerage management personnel and a copy was sent directly to you, and I have confirmation that the message to you was received. However, no one from your organization acknowledged receiving my message and no one responded to me with an answer or any form of information or explanation, despite my request for something as soon as possible.
Further, on Tuesday February 9, 1999 I was promised by your brokerage manager that a trade that was mis-handled by your firm would be removed from my account. It took me numerous phone calls and emails to get this concession from you. However, it does not appear anything has been done in this regard in over a week since then, even though I was promised the matter would be handled that very day. It has now been ten days. I inquired early this morning about the current status of this matter and I have not received any response. I am concerned further because I have never received any written confirmation for trades on that date, February 9, as well as for trades on February 3. I have no idea why, but these facts cause me concern about the way my account is being handled.
If I am correct in my assertions, I believe my account should be handled better, and I also believe my email messages and telephone calls to your people should get better response. As I said, some of these accounting problems have gone on since August of last year and remain uncorrected. Over six months.
Again, I deeply regret having to post such a negative sounding message here. I have mostly enjoyed trading with your firm, and I appreciate the way you personally have treated me during the past year. But I have tried other ways to get information on possible problems with my account....all without success. If any of the facts that I have written here are distorted or incorrect, please accept my deepest apology. Perhaps you can offer an explanation that will quickly resolve all the matters that are concerning me at this time.
The point of this, though, is that I, as I am sure most other traders, expect and deserve questions about our accounts to be handled professionally and expeditiously. And my questions in that regard appear not to have been. I appreciate your help.
Regards, Bill |
