I believe their is something going on. But what? They're out to get us, obviously. They will stop all of our atoms; then we're screwed. I think if they wanted to zap us they'd have done it already. More likely they're deciding whether we deserve to be the galactic equivalent of a national park or not. If the local flora and fauna aren't judged to be sufficiently endangered, they'll fork over a concession to some transdimensional corporation to scour out the resources of the place. And in the interests of galactic progress, we really shouldn't object. Why should we deprive civilized beings of vital resources just to preserve a bunch of primitive bipeds that still believe in virgin births? Might as well be snail darters. They may just be filming a sitcom on location. Or conducting the trans-universal survey of opinions on capital punishment and the legitimacy of homosexuality. We should ask them to drop by.
