It was a joke, actually.

If the government was conducting secret UFO tests, do you honestly think they would be seeking out or permitting the kind of contact with casual observers that the UFO stories recount?

And if they are, so what? Puts us one up in the arms race, if nothing else. Maybe they can use it to finish all this dreary Saddam nonsense, or snatch up the Russian warheads before some charismatic colonel decides to reconstitute the Soviet Union.

Doubtless you had something more sinister in mind. I'm just worried what it's going to do to the bloody defense budget...
