Salomon denies downgrading Microsoft

NEW YORK, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Salomon Smith Barney said it did not make any rating changes to Microsoft Corp. on Thursday, denying a report that it had downgraded the software giant.

"We did not downgrade Microsoft," a spokeswoman said.
Microsoft shares closed lower, down 4-1/4 at 145-3/4.
