John. I almost never buy into stocks that have been smashed, unless I am playing it for a quick bounce ona day trade. AT least I would never buy into them until a while after the dust settles because they usually settle lower in the next few weeks after a smash. I only get into those stocks after some time has past and it looks like something has changed to turn around the company. I'd rather play stocks like ALFN or TLTG that have great momentum and keep gapping day after day.
