Gates and Microsoft have always wanted total control over your computer. They do a check during the installation for Win95, where the program does an inventory of your system, hardware and software. If you online register the program, the inventory goes to their database. It does have a screen, however, that does tell you ahead of time and gives you the opportunity to register without sending the inventory, but it still just isn't right.
